Independent Injury Solutions can work with organisations to systematically develop workplace OH&S policies and procedures as well as assisting you to put them into practice. Ultimately this will assist you to comply with your legal obligations as an employer and help to prevent and manage workplace injuries.


2. RETURN TO WORK PROGRAMS
Independent Injury Solutions can assist employers with developing or reviewing their Return to Work Program. These programs are required under current legislation and represent the policy and procedures for effective management of workplace injuries.


3. PREMIUM DISCOUNT SCHEME
The Premium Discount Scheme is a WorkCover incentive scheme administered for interested employers. Independent Injury Solutions can complete an audit of your organisation's OH&S and Injury Management systems against minimum standards.
If successful in the audit, you can receive 15% (or up to $75,000) discount off your Workers Compensation Premium in the first year and a total of up to $150,000 over three years.


4. WORK METHOD STATEMENTS
Current Government legislation requires that work method statements are displayed in the workplace.
Independent Injury Solutions' Occupational Therapists trained in OH&S legislation and risk management can assist you in developing work method statements specific to your workplace.
A work method statement will summarise the steps involved in any task, identifying the risk factors and controls to minimise the risk of injury.
 
5. PHYSICAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Independent Injury Solutions' Occupational Therapists can assess the physical demands of any job and develop a succinct description of those demands for your use.
Details of the physical demands of specific jobs in the workplace may be used in conjunction with interviews and pre-employment screenings, therefore providing your business with a clear indication of an individual's suitability to complete the physical demands of the job for which they are applying.
 
6. PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING - PHYSICAL
Independent Injury Solutions can conduct assessments of an individual's ability to complete the inherent physical requirements of a job as a component of their application for employment. This can give your organisation a clear indication of an individual's suitability to safely perform the physical demands of the job for which they are applying.
 
7. PRE EMPLOYMENT SCREENING - PSYCHOLOGICAL
Independent Injury Solutions can conduct a Psychological Assessment of an individual's ability to cope with the specific psychological demands of a job as a component of their application for employment. This can give your business a clear indication of an individual's suitability for the psychological demands of the job for which they are applying.
 
8. MANUAL HANDLING RISK ASSESSMENT
A large proportion of workplace injuries are caused by poor manual handling practices or poorly designed equipment and working environment. An assessment of risks arising from manual handling can highlight these factors and guidance can be given to modify the environment or work practices to prevent manual handling injuries from occurring.


9. ERGONOMIC RISK ASSESSMENT AND ADVICE
Ergonomics is the study of the interaction between workers and their work environment, equipment and systems of work. Poor interaction produces risks to the worker's health and safety, and can result in injuries.
Independent Injury Solutions' Occupational Therapists can assess your workplace for ergonomic health and safety risks. Following the Ergonomic Risk Assessment a comprehensive report will provide guidance with practical control measures to prevent injuries from occurring in your workplace.
 
10. INJURY MANAGEMENT AUDITS
Independent Injury Solutions can come to your workplace and audit your systems of managing injuries and returning injured employees to work. Advice can then be given to further improve your injury management system to maximise effectiveness and minimise costs.
A report of findings and recommendations is produced for your use, specifying specific and achievable strategies to further improve your system of injury management.
 
11. SUITABLE DUTIES REGISTER
It is important to provide suitable duties for injured workers to help them return to work, however finding suitable duties can be difficult. Independent Injury Solutions can develop a register of suitable duties specific to your workplace taking the hassle out of finding suitable duties for your injured workers. Our Suitable Duties Registers also indicate what duties would be suitable for different types and severity of injuries.
 
12. MANUAL HANDLING TRAINING - "BACK TO BACK"
This competency based manual handling training package is designed to train workers in more effective manual handling. The course aims to:
Provide theoretical background on how the body works
Educate participants on the reasons for aches, pains and injuries
relating to manual handling
Identify potential risks associated with duties completed in the
workplace
Provide a practical application of better manual handling techniques
relating to the specific workplace.

Independent Injury Solutions' "Super Stretches" program is designed for workplaces with repetitive and sustained postures as a component of duties (for example process or production work). This program can be tailored to the workplace's specific needs and involves employees participating in a structured stretching program aimed at decreasing injuries. Benefits of the "Super Stretches" program include the decrease in aches and pains experienced by workers, decrease in injury claims, and increase in productivity in the workplace.
 
14. WORKSTATION ASSESSMENT
Independent Injury Solutions' Occupational Therapists and Exercise Physiologist assess a diverse range of workstations across many industries. Education and advice is provided to modify workstations if required to reduce the risk of injury from poor posture, repetitive activities, or unsafe work practices.
A workstation assessment may also assist in eliminating aches and pains and subsequently improve productivity in the workplace.
